Our Little Bean

What a crazy week. I'm still getting used to this whole being pregnant thing and not possessing all the super human traits I once had. A perfect example, I went to bed at 9:30 last night, woke up at 6am and by 9:30 was back in bed sleeping until almost noon!! Holy Cry have I been tired! No morning sickness though so that is wonderful!

Biggest news of the week is that Brad and I went to Tulsa on Wednesday for our first ultrasound. To everyone's surprise, we are not having twins, but rather we are having 1 perfect little baby!! S/he's measuring perfectly at 7 weeks and is the size of a blueberry!!! Kind of disturbing when you're eating fruit salad and get a bit of a blueberry, but otherwise, truly amazing! The neatest thing was that even at that size, we were able to see AND hear the heartbeat. Brad thought it sounded like the MacGyver car at 134 beats per minute. Is it a boy like everyone is saying? Who knows...but we'll know in about 9 weeks now...what a GREAT Christmas present. WOW...is Christmas that close already?!?!

Signs and Symptoms

OH MY GOSH...Why am I sooooooo HUNGRY?!?! Had a great day at school today. I LOVE my students. We played volleyball this morning with my big kids and did parachute this afternoon with my kindergarteners and 1st graders. There's something about a parachute that brings out so much laughter, excitement, and fun. I just love bringing it out because the room is instantly filled with enthusiasm, giggles, and happy screeches. Who wouldn't love that on any given afternoon?

I promised myself at the beginning of this pregnancy that I would be active everyday, setting a goal of walking at least 2 miles daily. I decided that there would be some days where 2 1-mile walks or 4 1/2-mile walks might be more reasonable, but hey...it's a goal. Today was one of those days where I was dragging by the end of the day. I dragged myself to the gym and lasted all of 25 minutes on the elliptical. If you have ever seen me work out on a normal (pre-pregnancy day) you would know I'd be on the elliptical for an hour, climbing, steps, lifting, and then teaching a class. Not today! It was all I could do to stay on for 25 minutes. I was exhausted and so tired. It took all I had to drive past McDonalds and not get a hamburger (for those of you who know me again, it is probably inconcievable for you to think of me getting anything other than an ice cream cone from there) but to go home and make dinner.

1/2 a homemade pizza
a peach
an apple
macaroni n' cheese
a skinny cow ice cream sandwich
candy corn

and...wait...that might be it...

You would think I hadn't eaten all day, but au contraire! Holy Signs and Symptoms is all I can say!

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged but I don't feel like there's that much going on here in The Pope House. Brad and I are anxiously awaiting our first ultrasound on Wednesday. I am so hopeful that there are twins in there. My heart is telling me there are, but my head is telling me to be prepared for a singleton. No matter what, we are just ecstatic that we are almost 7 weeks pregnant and that come May, our family will be expanding, but still...is it bad for me to say that I really want twins? I do.

It's been super rainy here in NWA. In fact, I feel like we live more in Seattle than in the Ozarks. It's rained at least some for 6 days straight and there's no real end in sight yet. Yesterday, we made our first batch of wine. It should be ready in 3 months, late enough so I can taste it and just in time for our Holiday Wine and Cheese Party. Today, Brad and I are hoping to get outside and start working on building our fire pit so we can enjoy it during the cooler fall nights. The ground is so wet it shouldn't be too bad of a task...if the rain will hold off for us. Our inagural fire pit party is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd when Brad hosts his First Annual Catfish Slumber Party. I know, it sounds wrong for a man to host a slumber party, but when he posted it on Facebook, that's what it came up as "Party Type: Slumber Party-Other," so now it's officially a slumber party =) Everyone is planning on pitching tents and catfishing on the lake. I on the other hand plan on opening the windows to the porch and sleeping on an air mattress on the porch. That's about as close to sleeping in Mother Nature that I'm up to right now.

Big update to come on Wednesday. Still praying for healthy twins. Praying that they're developing perfectly and that we get to hold them in our arms next spring! What a BLESSED life we lead and oh how that life is about to change for the better!

Our Laborless Labor Day Weekend

This has taken me all week to post, but I wanted to get some pictures up here because we just had the best Labor Day Weekend. My best friend Janelle and her husband Nate (we love you too Nate) came to spend the weekend with us from Arizona. Janelle and I met when we were in Grad School and have besties ever since. I sure do wish they lived closer!

Janelle and I have been through so many break ups, get back togethers, silly cries, moments of laughter, weddings, etc. She is always there for me and I miss having her closer by. She's a great workout buddy too. Or should I say, we used to be really good workout buddies. Janelle is pregnant and is due in January so she has an excuse for being slower now (though not much slower) but me at 5 weeks pregnant...shoot...why am I sucking wind already? Those same hills that I was running a month ago with Brad now shoot my heart rate up just walking them. This is INSANE! Nonetheless, we were brave warriors and conquered them all...many times over. Not even pregnancy is going to stop us. Might slow us down, but we are unstoppable (at least last weekend we were).

Sunday we spent the day on the lake with some of our other good friends from down here in NWA. Those lake days are coming to an end here soon and wow is that water getting chilly. I wouldn't be surprised if you see Brad out there in a wet suit at the end of October, but I think I only have a few more weeks left.

Here are a few pics from our weekend. Hope you enjoy them!

We Are...

...PREGNANT!!! We got the phone call this morning that we were definitely pregnant. Brad and I are so excited. It is a CRAZY dream come true. We are officially 4 weeks pregnant so it is so early. Normally, we wouldn't even be telling anyone yet, but I just couldn't keep it from all of you who have been following our journey, praying, and being so supportive! There's a long road ahead of us, but we will do everything to keep me and this baby or babies healthy and growing!! Wow...I'm going to go allow myself to sit on the couch and relax...there's obviously a good reason why I'm so tired!!!

Chompin' At The Bit

Here it is, Wednesday, the day we thought we would get our results, but guess what? We still don't have anything confirmed. Turns out the lab sends their bloodwork to Lenexa, Kansas and we should expect to hear back in the next few days. Are you kidding me? Oh well. No used crying over spilled milk, right?

In the meantime, I'm feeling great! A little tired, but shoot, I've also been teaching PE for the first full week this year. I LOVE being back to school and missed my students so much. They really know how to help keep my mind off things.

Anyway...we're Chompin' At The Bit as well. Hopefully we'll have some good news soon!
