No Signs of The Little Man...

I have to say, I have been blessed with such a wonderful pregnancy. For the girl who is so aware of her physical appearance, I honestly thought I'd be flipping out by weight gain and a large stomach, but so far, I'm really taking everything in stride. Yes, even after gaining 2 pounds in a week all while working out HARD and counting calories, I am not upset or teary.

As for other parts of this pregnancy, I never had any morning sickness, my energy has been pretty good for the past 9 months,I haven't missed a scheduled workout, and I still have pretty sweet arm muscles. It's all pretty amazing to me.

Today was my 38 week appointment and yet again, there are no signs of Mr. Quinn wanting to make his appearance in this world. I am still dialated to a zero, Quinn is riding high, and am in no way effaced at all. Good news is, my stomach has grown 2 centimeters from last week (I was measuring 30 weeks and am now 32 weeks) so perhaps he's putting on some good weight.

I think we're going to have to move onto weekly photos, though I'm not anticipating any news until May 17th (5 days late). Keep checking back. I have another appointment next Wednesday.

37 Week Update

Just wanted to post quickly for those of you who look here for an update. We started our weekly appointments today and despite intense contractions last week Wednesday and Thursday, there is no baby coming anytime too soon. I am not dialated at all nor am I effaced. Quinn is apparently quite comfortable and honestly, I'm not complaining. I am feeling so good still. Yes, I am ready to not be so swollen and to be able to see the muscles in my legs again (they are there, I swear), but really, as far as pregnancies go, this has all been so easy. I would feel guilty if I did complain. Stay tuned...there's bound to be some news one of these days.

9 Months Pregnant?!?!?!

Oh my gosh...where did these last 9 months go? Here we are with 4 weeks left until said due date. That's incredible!

With 4 weeks to go, this is a busy week. I had my first baby shower at school on Monday, hosted by my awesome Activity Team.

I am still so taken with how generous people are. I am super excited to use the tent my team bought us for the backyard. It's UV protected and will allow Quinn hours down by the lake...and Mama a little freedom to enjoy hanging out as well. All I can say after that shower is that Quinn is going to be one well-dressed and spoiled little boy with all these wonderful ladies around.

Next weekend is my friends shower and I am so excited. I know there will be lots of pictures to share from that one next week.

As for me, we are now 36 weeks pregnant and miraculously, I'm still feeling good. I taught a killer spin class yesterday and am planning on teaching for 2 more weeks (if I can hold up). We still have a lot that I'd like to get done before Quinn arrives (anyone good at setting up/organizing closets?) but we are more or less ready for him.

Here's what a 36 week pregnant Maria looks like...ENJOY!

More New Recipes

I am doing so well with sticking to my New Years' Goal of making a new recipe each week. We have 2 more winners to tell you about folks...Grilled Honey Lime Chicken Sandwiches courtesy of Rachel Ray and Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps. I don't know how I keep picking these simple winners, but WOW...are they ever amazing.

First off, Grilled Honey Lime Chicken Sandwiches (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/grilled-honey-lime-chicken-sandwiches-recipe/index.html). Now grilled chicken sandwiches are always good, but the combination of cilantro, honey, and lime really added a nice subtle flavor making a good staple really good. Even better, and oh so simple, the recipe called for the sandwich to be topped with avocado. Now why I never thought about adding fresh avocado to a sandwich, I don't know, but let me tell you that if you like avocado, I would HIGHLY recommend trying to add it to any sandwich to get a creamy extra flavor.

Our second winning recipe (and which is currently ranked in the top 5 of all the new recipes I've tried so far this year) is Cooking Light's Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps (http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1932640). The recipe calls for the use of Napa (Chinese) cabbage. I was not in the mood to search for that or for the fresh mint that the recipe called for but nonetheless, it was PHENOMENAL. The dish was full of fresh flavors, was not spicy even with an entire jalapeno in it, and was super quick to make. It will definitely win a place in our summer recipe repertoire. It's perfect for a hot day and is so filling yet very low in calories and high in protein. Give it a try (you'll find the fish sauce in the Asian aisle of Walmart...though I found that not all stores carry it). This is one recipe you will regret missing out on if you don't try it!

He's Just A Little Guy at 35 Weeks

We went in today to start our every 2 week appointments and SURPRISE, they wanted to do another ultrasound. Turns out, they didn't measure our little man last time we were in the office so they did it today. Quinn is looking great! At 35 weeks old, he's measuring about 34 weeks and is weighing in at approximately 4 pounds 11 ounces. He's in the 9.5 percentile for weight and at this rate, he'll be between 6 and 7 pounds when he is born. That sounds perfect to me and knowing that neither Brad nor I are big people, this probably doesn't really surprise anyone else either.

Quinn is also quite the contortionist. He seems to like keeping his feet above his head and his hands under his butt. Hmmm...are we going to have a butt picker in our family? Only time will tell. Funny story about the feet though, I keep feeling like I'm being tickled/someone is strumming a guitar down there. Doesn't this little man understand that we don't play with others' privates? Just kidding, but really, when we saw him on the ultrasound, he was just wiggling those feet around which explains quite a bit =)

Here are probably the last pictures we'll have of Mr. Quinn before he is born. It is a profile shot with his feet up by his face. Enjoy...Brad and I sure did.
